Behavior Change Day 2

I am uncomfortable thinking about my thesis and how my proposal is not completed yet. I so badly want to ignore my anxiety about it. I just told myself, "Laura, eating is a time of enjoyment NOT a time for worry" I can push worry out until after I am finished eating. That way it will not be competing with hunger.

Behavior Change Night 1

Oh my god! I'm watching TV and I want a snack. I don't want to turn off the TV- I don't want a snack that bad, but I do want a snack real bad.

I feel anxiety in my tummy- it's a 4 on the hunger scale and an 8 on the anxiety scale.

Behavior Change Day 1

In my exercise psych class we have to pick a health related behavior change and do it for 4 weeks. I decided to cut down on how much I eat in front of the TV. I just finished meal #1. I'm not going to lie, I'm having a little bit of anxiety about it. This is a really hard behavior to change for me. I generally relax when I eat and spend the time zoning out in front of a TV show. I feel like that didn't happen just now. I'm all high strung. However- The eating was different. It was less of an anesthetic. It was good, but I found my sweet spot (my personal perfect place to stop) much easier than usual. I'm full now, but not stuffed. I also laid back afterwards and took some deep breaths. That was nice. But now that I'm done eating it's TV time!

Adventures with Food

Here I go again!

I'm sitting here planning out my meals for the week. Yes, even Ellyn Satter would have to be proud of my intention to improve my contextual skills. I even had breakfast this morning! It's amazing, i know. So I've got my recipe box open with cards spilled all over the table, the most recent cooking light magazine dog eared for quick reference, allrecipes.com loaded on the side by side monitors, and my shopping list in front of me. I'm ready- but am I making good choices? Here's what I've got so far:

1. Eggplant and Goat Cheese Sandwich (cooking light of course- inspired by the eggplants at farmer's market)
2. Homemade salsa for tacos- the peppers I picked up at FM are already roasted
3. Stir fried wok vegetables- bok choy, another purchase from FM
4. Salmon with broccoli and rice

So ambitious I know- we'll see
